Hello and Welcome to Tripping With Marty!
Hello...anybody out there?
Another year, another blog. Welcome to "Tripping With Marty." If you want to know what's going to be going on here, it's all explained here.
First off I want to thank anyone who's reading this. It's always scary taking a break and then starting a new blog. I always hope I didn't lose my audience and so far I've been lucky. We'll see what happens with this one.
I feel all my blogs have led to this one. The Marty Wombacher Show morphed into A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars. When that was done, I took what I had learned and launched Marty After Dark. And now I'm starting a new phase, where I'm going to be blogging between 6 to 8 hours a day live (except on Saturday and Sunday and special occasions) and treat it like it's my full time job. How can I do this? Easy, I don't have a full time job anymore.
As I've always said, I don't blog about where I work and I'm not going to blog about where I used to work. Basically what I will say is they moved to a location outside of New York City that would've been a bad commute for me and I wouldn't have been able to blog anymore. Luckily, I've had a feeling this would happen, I’ve saved up money and I have a little nest egg I can live on for awhile and do this blog full time. Something I've always dreamed about doing.
I really want to thank my friend (and yours!) "Boris" for designing a kick-ass piece of banner art for Tripping With Marty. "Boris" has designed all my banners and did a ton of work on The Marty Wombacher Show. I'm always amazed by his work and he totally blew me away with this one. I wanted it to be psychedelic, but still readable and he took the idea and hit it out of the ballpark. He took a picture of me and psychedelicized me by mirroring Richard Avedon's famous portrait of John Lennon from 1968. If you need any artwork, banners, logos, CD art and beyond, let me know and I'll put you in touch with "Boris." And don't miss his daily, "Secret Weapon" show he does with DJ Gidget on Woody Radio. "Boris" picks the tunes and DJ Gidget spins them.
Today there's just going to be three posts, this one, one about my work history in New York and then a goodnight video. Tomorrow we go live, tripping out into to the wild blue blogosphere!
I thank you for tuning in to Tripping With Marty, it should be a fun ride! The next post will be up around 3pm, check back and thanks for not abandoning me! I truly appreciate that!

Knock 'em dead (literally, if you want to). Take no prisoners (or take a prisoner). Break a leg (also, literally, if you want to). May the force be with you. If you need an intern, I'll do it for a cheeseburger and wine.

Great that you're back! And congrats on your new blog, will be scary at first, not working for pay, but I know you have something in you that's dying to break free. Stand aside world, Marty is in command!
PARTY !!!
Excited for your new adventure. I was wondering what you were going to be doing about the job situation, didn't really see that one coming! Glad to be along for the new ride.
Awesome! Bookmarked. Not Boob-marked, which is what I originally typed.
Marty who?
Just kiddin'. I'll be checking in every day.
Bookmarked!
Yay, sounds fun! Looking forward to virtual tripping with you!
The great day is finally here. You (and your amazing cast of loyal commentators) have provided me with countless mornings of entertainment and shit giggles over the last couple of years. As someone who recently finished a year of unemployed soul searching, I can't wait to see what kind of trouble you get into.
Today I learned that Marty and his new blog is up to.
I also learned I need to buy lead underwear.
Damn you Kal-El and your Kryptonian novelties.
I also learned I still can't comment edit and my grammar is good not so because. Luck best Marty.
@Jason: Thanks! See you at 3pm!
@Mykola Mick Dementiuk: Thanks! It is a little scary and I appreciate your words of encouragement!
@GENE: PARTY!
@kari:Thanks, always glad to have you on the ride!
@Torquil: Thank you and boobmarked is not such a bad thing!
@Bruce Davis: Ha ha ha! Thanks for stopping by and not forgetting me!
@Goggla: Thanks, glad to hear you'll be tripping along!
@Marty In Montreal: Thank you my fellow Marty! I'm a little nervous, but more excited to see what happens here! Thanks for checking it out!
@csp: Nice to see you back, better lead than dead! !Thanks
I am already in love with "Tripping with Marty" and looking forward to all the good trips. May this be the start of many good things in your life!
Sad. I was hoping with the new site I would get emailed Marty's comments. No such luck.
Nest egg or no, being out of work in one of the most expensive cities in the world in these times would scare the fuck out of me...you've got guts dude, best of luck! I had a pair of those x-ray specs when I was a kid by the way!
@Patty: Thank you so much for the nice wishes!
@kari: Sorry, I don't know why that is, I'll try and figure it out.
@Jaws: Thanks, we'll see what happens. I love those x-ray specs, a staple of every comic book reader!
Congrats on your site launch Marty! Sorry to hear about your job, but way to make lemonade out of lemons! Are you taking bribes--cough! cough!-- I mean, will you be taking daily tripping recommendations every once in a while... if the ice-pray is ight-ray? ;) ;) If so, I want to vote you off Manhattan island and into Queens! Corona and Jackson Heights here we come! Burgers n beer!
HELL YEAH! Love the whole idea for this new blog. I'm pretty goddamn excited!
Wait a minute. There's no free beer here!
Woo! Marty!
Let the games begin!
I'm looking forward to more adventures and misadventures with you on this journey.
Glad you liked the banner.
I think it works and thanks for the kudos.
For the price of going out in New York, you could afford plane tickets and party in other exciting locales! If you ever make it to Oklahoma City, first few rounds are on me. Trip on, Marty!
Best of luck Marty! Daylight denizens of New York -- beware!
@Claribel: Thanks! I'll take bribes, handouts and there will be a donation button going up, but more about that in a couple weeks! And I will be traveling out of Manhattan more often as well! I'll let you know when I'm Queens bound!
@Reggie Thistleton: Thanks, glad you like the idea, it'll be in full swing tomorrow!
@EV Grieve: And a Hoo back to YOO! There will be beer tomorrow, but it'll be up to the bartender to see if it's free or not!
@"Boris:" Thanks for designing that banner, great work and even better than I could've imagined. Wonderful job, Daddio!
@Al Cervik: Thank you, if I ever get to Oklahoma, I will let you know. In the meantime, let me know if you ever get to New York City!
@Spike: They've been warned! Now I need to get a pair of sunglasses.
MATREEEEEE!!! KEEPONROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD!!! (or whats left of it) ;}]
We have a lot of catching up to do. I love the banner art,,,made me dizzy in a good way. I think you already have your audience back,,,,I wish you much success as the barb of Broadway,,,,creating a show here for us like Damon Runyon,,,,,and on a sad note,,,,Holiday cocktail closed up,,,but plans are in the works for another bar at that iconic spot on St Marks, hopefully nothing like what happened with Fedora's,,,,,,here's a song that goes along with the closing of Holiday,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez1Z8LthQEI
Ahoy Matey, as Captain Jinks and Salty Sam would say! Can't wait to follow you on this journey, and I know I always say this, but REALLY hope to join you sometime this year!!!
Fucking awesome.. love it.. the banner is awesome..
I am looking forward to this new journey.
like all the ones previous to this.
There is always something to learn
It's a fun ride to be on!
@ROCKINROLLRITCHIE: Rock 'n' Roll!
@Al: Thanks! Yeah, I had heard about the Holiday, another one bites the dust. As you say, I hope it doesn't get Fedoradized. Thanks for sending that link, I've never heard of that song, it's great!
@Rick: Love the Captain Jinks and Salty Sam reference! And I would love it if you could get out here this year!
@Gidget: Thanks! "Boris" really did a great job and it's wonderful to have you along on the ride as always!
Ahhh.... the boss left for the day, and it's MARTY TIME! Great blog! Clearly you ought to make tshirts of the awesome banner. I know I'd buy and wear one with pride! And give them as gifts! Good luck, or as we say in the Spanish theatre, "mucha mierda" (lotsa shit)!
Best of luck, my man.
@Katrink: Thanks! We're working on the t-shirts and hope to have some soon!
@BabyDave: Thank you sir! We'll see what this adventure brings!
Hi Marty, best of luck with your new (ad)venture. Strange how our job ordeals seem to mirror each other. Believe me, I know exactly what kind of fear and uncertainty you must be experiencing. I just ordered a year's supply of "Depends". Once I get over this nasty cold, we should meet up at you know where and cry in many beers.
Glad you are back!...We both don't have jobs! Cool!
Hey! MAR-Tone! I can toss a monkey wrench into this whole blog thing. You want a job? Or at least something part time and get paid a little? Up to you. Call me. I got stuff for you to do.
@Uncle Waltie: Thanks! Hope you feel better soon, let me know when you're ready to meet. Maybe we can have a morning toast at you know where! Sip Ahoy!
@Professor Dungpie: Thanks, we're both unemployed and overjoyed!
@Mr. Trademark: I'll call you tonight, thanks!
Welcome back Marty - you're not only bookmarked, but scored prime real estate on the toolbar as "Trippin".
I was going to say "at least I can keep you in beer money" but then I remember how fucking much beer you can drink!!! Is that correct? "I remember how fucking much beer you can drink!" or should it be "I remember how much fucking beer you can drink!". Hmmm. Fucking much or Fucking beer? I do know there is a hyphen between Mother and Fucker. It is not all one word you know.
Joe
Hey Marty,
I'm still here! Looking forward to the new blog.
@Lex: Thanks! And I'm honored and humbled to be on your toolbar!
@Joe: Anyway you want to say it is fine, no rules here! Except Motherfucker is all one word!
@Brooksy in Oz: Hey Brooksy, glad to see you made it here, mate! I hope you enjoy the adventures!
Bravo! Will be checking in on the tripping ...
Marty, Nice to see ya unemployed like myself & doing what you do best, writing crazy shit!!! Now you can stream Netflix all day & night.
@Danny: Thanks! Glad you tuned in! Unemployed and overjoyed, say it loud!
Love the cut up swipe card! And the ghosts of production past. Looks like you're off to a great start. Enjoy your free time!
@DN: Thanks, I'm going to savor and enjoy every day I don't have to punch a time clock!
Good luck, Marty! I'm looking forward to seeing this madness. No pressure, but make me laugh--or else :-) Kit
